(Dinner) among the Ruins,
(Dinner) Among the Ruins was a unique dining experience where guests ate, drank, and enjoyed lively conversation among my work The Best Leftovers during Subject Platter II at Corner7, 24/01/2025.
The event’s title is a corruption of the Robert Browning poem 'Love among the Ruins' that’s theme of Arcadia lost aligns with thoughts explored in the sculptural work.
Food was made by artist Francesca Anfossi, its placement on the table drawing inspiration from Heraclitus’ Unswept Floor mosaic.
Where the quiet-coloured end of evening smiles,
Miles and miles
On the solitary pastures where our sheep
Half-asleep
Tinkle homeward thro' the twilight, stray or stop
As they crop—
Was the site once of a city great and gay,
(So they say)
Of our country's very capital, its prince
Ages since
Held his court in, gathered councils, wielding far
Peace or war.
